Drinking you daily dose of water can benefit you body in many different ways, but does drinking water help acne? One of the biggest effects is the positive effect on the skin. Although water is not a cure all to breakouts and acne issues, drinking plenty of water can definitely help with breakouts by helping you body eliminate its toxins, and stay hydrated.
Since our bodies are made of 70% water, making sure you stay hydrated is crucial to your overall health. Water helps your body circulate fluids through your body like blood, lymph, mucus, and more. These fluids help deliver nutrients to your organs, and also flush out toxins and waste. Since the skin is the bodies largest organ, and your body uses the skin to get rid of toxins, this organ would be negatively effected if you don’t drink your daily dose of water!
Drinking plenty of water also has additional benefits that you wouldn’t think of. If you drink plenty of water, you are less likely to reach for other beverages such as soda, coffee, energy drinks, juices, etc. These beverages can actually have a negative impact on the body, so replacing these with water is incredibly beneficial. If you consume sodas, juices, etc, replacing these with water can have a significant impact on your waistline as well!
Even though drinking plenty of water can definitely help acne, its not a cure-all for all acne issues. Acne is normally caused by different things besides dehydration. Acne can be caused by hormonal imbalance, skin abnormalities, etc, these causes cannot be cured by simply drinking water. With that being said, staying hydrated helps your skin self moisturize and cleanses the cells build up of waste. Unfortunately, it does not effect oil production.
So all in all, staying hydrated can help, but you will need to do more than drink water to cure your acne!
