Homemade acne masks are a great, fun, and relaxing way to treat acne. Best of all, these recipes are effective, and 100% natural. This means that they are well tolerated, and are suitable to all skin types! After reading this article, I hope to inspire you to create masks out of anything you have available- honey, yogurt, oatmeal, tea are examples of ingredients that we all have readily available, and are wonderful ingredients as a base of a face mask.
Since I’ve already covered honey face masks in my natural acne treatment post, I encourage you to check that out. This was one of the most effective acne treatments I’ve ever used, although the most inconvenient as well.
All of the ingredients that will be discussed here can be added in together, so go through your refrigerator or kitchen cabinets to see what you have. From there you can come up with a custom made face mask for your needs based on what you have available!
First and foremost, you will need a base for the mask. I like to use a powdered clay, such as Aztec Healing Clay, but other things can work well. For example, ground oatmeal can work as a base, so can yogurt. You just need something that will help add dryness if you are adding wet ingredients. Below are some of my favorite recipes! J
Aztec Healing Super Mask
- Clay powder
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Ground Coffee
- 2-4 drops Tea Tree or Frankincense oil
- Mix these ingredients to the desired consistency, and apply to a cleansed face. Let sit for 30 minutes
Honey Oatmeal Mask
- Finely Ground oatmeal
- Greek yogurt
- Combine these ingredients to the desired consistency. Apply to face, and let sit 30-60 minutes
Honey Coffee Mask
- 1 Packet of Starbucks Via
- Few tablespoons of warm honey
- Combine ingredients and apply to face. Let sit for 30-60 minutes
